My friend got whooped?? Is this fair??

She's 18 and arrested for cocaine possession and since she's had violations all through out hs and has gotten caught for possession a bunch of times she was given four years even though shes 18. I've visited her a few times in jail and last time she told me she got whooped by her roommate for talking back. Like no joke, pants off panties down whooped. She said she cried for like an hour! I feel really bad for her but idk does she sorta deserve it for being in there in the first place??
